Dr Harry Hausler, Director
Dr Harry Hausler is the Director of TB/HIV Care Association and is the principal investigator of Project Integrate. He is a family physician, HIV clinician and preventive medicine specialist with 15 years of international public health experience implementing and evaluating integrated tuberculosis and HIV programs. He has a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to working with TB/HIV Care Association he has managed medical services in internal refugee camps in Rwanda, and conducted TB/HIV and PMTCT research in Haiti. He has also worked with the Global TB Programme of the World Health Organization in Geneva and as the National TB/HIV technical advisor in the South African Department of health.
Mrs Ria Grant, Senior Advisor
Mrs Ria Grant is the Senior Advisor of TB/HIV Care Association. She trained as a Professional Nurse at Groote Schuur Hospital and completed her midwifery course at Peninsula Maternity Hospital in District Six. Ria’s first full-time employment was with the City of Cape Town’s Health Department as a nurse in the TB clinic at Athlone. She enjoyed working and communicating with TB patients. Thanks to her upbringing in the rural Eastern Cape (former Transkei), Ria is also fluent in Xhosa, a skill which has stood her in good stead over the years. In 1976 Ria joined TB/HIV Care Association initially as a Caseworker and over the years evolved to her current position. |
